I'm putting together a small music room at home and have been thinking about making a few changes to the space rather than just adding more equipment. One thing I hadn't really considered before was the floor.
I've seen people recommend rugs for reducing reflections, but I'm also wondering about the actual flooring underneath. I came across Engineered Wood Flooring in Austin, TX while looking at different options and started wondering whether engineered wood would make sense for a room used for guitar practice and occasional rehearsals.
For anyone who has a dedicated music or rehearsal room at home, what type of flooring have you found works well? I'm mainly interested in something that is comfortable for longer sessions, holds up to regular foot traffic, and doesn't make the room unnecessarily difficult to manage acoustically.
Would you go with wood flooring, carpet, or a combination with area rugs? I'd be interested to hear what has worked for other musicians.
