Is radon testing worth considering for a basement rehearsal room?

A friend of mine is setting up a small rehearsal and recording space in a basement, and we were talking about everything that should be checked before spending money on improving the room. Most of our attention has been on soundproofing, ventilation, and keeping the equipment protected from moisture, but someone brought up radon as well.

I honestly had never considered it before. For people who have used basement rooms for rehearsing or recording, is radon testing something you would recommend doing as part of the setup? Also, if a building ever needs professional testing or mitigation, do contractors normally work directly with wholesale radon distributors for the equipment.
