Is it normal for lash glue to lose retention faster in higher humidity?

Hey everyone! Quick question for the lash techs or DIY lash folks here. I recently moved to a much more humid area, and I’ve noticed my sets aren't lasting nearly as long as they used to. My client retention dropped from 4+ weeks to barely 2. Could the humidity be curing the adhesive too fast while I work? Should I adjust my drop frequency or look into a different drying speed? 100% yes! Humidity speeds up cyanoacrylate curing dramatically. If your room humidity is over ~60%, your usual 1-2 second glue might actually be flash-curing before you even place the extension onto the natural lash. That creates a weak bond, which explains the bad retention. Try running a dehumidifier in your workspace or switching to a slightly slower drying adhesive during high-humidity seasons.

Beatrix is spot on. I had the exact same issue when I moved studios last summer. High humidity makes the glue cure on the isolation surface before it fully adheres. Besides managing your room environment, it helps to refresh your glue dot every 15-20 minutes instead of 30.

That makes so much sense, thank you both! I didn't realize room climate played that big of a role. I’m currently using a super fast 0.5s adhesive, so it’s definitely curing before I attach it. I think I'll try stepping down to a 1-2s formula to give myself a buffer. I was just browsing different humidity formulas on lash glue to compare cure times, so I'll pick up a slower one and see if that fixes my retention issue next week!
