I've got a 2017 BMW 540i with the electric power steering and lately it's been acting strange. On the highway it feels like there's a bit of a dead zone around the center position, but then when I turn into a corner it feels normal again. No warning lights or noises, just that vague wandering feeling that makes you constantly correct. I took it to a tire shop and they did alignment but it didn't change anything. Now I'm wondering if it's something in the steering rack itself like worn internal bushings or a sensor issue. A colleague mentioned that with these electric racks you can't just adjust or rebuild them easily, and that finding actual Dubai BMW Steering Repair Experts who understand the electronic components is key because most general shops will just say "replace the whole rack" for a fortune. Has anyone else experienced this loose on center feeling on an G30 model and did it end up being a software calibration, a tie rod end, or the actual rack? Trying to figure out if I'm looking at a simple fix or something serious before I start spending. Really don't want to drop five grand on a new rack if it's just a worn steering coupler or a torque sensor that can be recalibrated.
